Sending a Message

119  To send a private message to one or more other site participants, access the Messages tool and follow these steps:

1     If the Messages home page is not displayed and the screen you are viewing does not contain a Compose Message link in the menu near the top of the screen (all views of the contents of folders have this button), click the Reset button to display the home page.

2     Click the Compose Message link.

3     In the To box, click to select recipients for the message. You may select all participants in a particular role and/or specific individuals.

To select consecutive names in the list, click the first name, hold down the SHIFT key, and click the last name.

To select multiple names that are not contiguous, click the first name, hold down the CTRL key, and click each of the other names you want.

4     To send a private message internally (which a recipient will see only in the Messages tool), be sure that As Message is selected. To send a private message to a recipient’s external email address instead, click To Recipients’ Email Address(es).

If you select the To Recipients’ Email Address(es) option, this message will be sent to the email address the recipient has specified in the Account tool. This message will not be sent to the recipient’s Received box in the Messages tool.

5     To change the priority of the message, select the appropriate level from the Label pulldown list.

6     In the Subject box, enter the subject of your message. An entry in this box is required.

7     In the Message box, enter message text. Use the icons and pulldown lists to format the text and link to other online content as appropriate. For information on using these options, see Using the Rich Text Editor.

8     To add one or more attachments to this message, click Add Attachment and follow the instructions in Adding an Attachment

9     To send the message, click Send. The CLE sends the message and displays the Messages home page. Or, to return to the home page without sending the message, click Cancel.
